A Gentler Approach to Acne Scar Removal: Acne Scars Cream

By Martha Fitzharris

One of the gentlest ways you can get rid of acne scars, is by trying acne scar creams. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of these products depends greatly on their ingredients.

Ingredients that boost collagen are essential to all types of scar cream. Steer clear of products that contain collagen as collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the skin. Some other ingredients that should appear on the ingredients list of any acne scar cream are copper peptides, Vitamin C, and key amino acids.

Other natural ingredients that can help dissolve scar tissue and promote the production of healthy skin are snail serum and rose hip oil. Snail serum is a great ally against scars because it contains a complex combination of co-enzymes, peptides, enzymes, and other molecules. This mix of components helps remove dead skin cells by breaking them down into amino acids for easier elimination.

Rose hip seed oil contains high levels of vitamin C, vitamin A, and essential fatty acids. These components work together to eliminate scar tissue and boost the generation of new tissue to take its place.

You can benefit from rose hip oil by using it in its oil form or as an ingredient in another skin care product. However, if your interests lie the application of snail serum, you can only benefit from it when using it as part of acne scar creams and other skin care products.

Acne Scar Removal Options

Scar creams can be quite effect against acne scars. However, you may be looking for a quicker fix. In this case, you can get rid of acne scars through other treatment options such as dermabrasion, chemical peels and surgery.

Dermabrasion is much like a chemical peel, except for the fact that instead of chemicals, it uses abrading crystals to remove the outermost layer of skin. There are gentle and harsh dermabrasion treatments. The level of intensity of each treatment will depend on the type of crystals being used.

Anesthesia and pain medication are required. Downtime is about 2 weeks. You may also need successive session if your scars are deep.

Chemical peels remove skin layers with the use of different chemicals. The peel you decide to undergo can range from superficial, medium or deep, depending on the chemicals being used. The extent of damage you want to treat will help determine which peel is best for you.

If you have severe acne scarring, it may take more than one session to treatment successfully. If you decide to undergo a chemical peel, it will require anesthesia, wound care, and pain medication as well as a couple weeks of recovery. Once your skin has healed, you will have to take care of the treated skin with sunscreen or sun block.

If you decide to undergo a surgical intervention then you'll have to decide between excision and subcutaneous incision. Excision or punch excision is used for ice pick scars while subcutaneous incision or subcision is mostly used to treat rolling scars or boxcar scars.
