The Mongoose Thrive - Bleed edge BMX Technology

By Joel Colman

The Mongoose continues to hold its high standards in BMX Bike manufacturing. Since its initial involvement with BMX through creation of wheels of unmatched quality, the company continues to keep its commitment to BMX and excel expectations. Today, the Mongoose continues to design and produce some of the world's best machines in the biking industry.

If ever there was the need to create an "example bike" to demonstrate how a real BMX bike should behave, the Mongoose Thrive would be it.

There is simply something special about the Mongoose Thrive that sets it apart from all the rest. From the incredible flexibility and the many features, to its ability to perform many stunts and the ease in riding, this bike, from the Mongoose Bikes creators, can take anything that any rider will put it through.

Everything on It

For a BMX bike manufacturer, finding innovative techniques and setting new limits is always a challenge! When Mongoose came up with the idea of putting a full-Chromoly fork into their BMX banger, it was an insanely genius idea! There's no doubt that Chromoly is the best bet for strength and durability but isn't it even better if you make the entire fork a single unit?

Mongoose thought so too and that is why this bike has a single piece fork. Done? Not quite! If you are constantly looking for higher jumps and safer landings, then you think just like this manufacturer. The Mongoose Thrive comes with massive handle bars and Odyssey pedals to maximize ride comfort and quality. The company also has a special "street" package that includes grinding pegs and a gyro brake setup.

Everything on the Thrive, from the Rush levers to the stock alloy brakes, by Tektro, are perfect for even the toughest runs. The company has gone out of its way to gain that little extra in every nook & corner. The end result is one insane machine!

Heavy Performance but Not Heavy on the Wallet

Yes, the bike will certainly hit your wallet but if you consider the $370 to $400 price tag, it might not be too bad. The price is, still, $50 to $80 less than what the average BMX 20-inch bike costs and that is just the "average" we are speaking of. Nothing about the Mongoose Thrive is average by any means - especially not build quality or performance capability.

For this price, you can own a bike with world class parts that ensures comfort, safety, flexibility and durability. Considering all of the above, then you can decide for yourself whether you are getting a bargain or not. However, if you are still checking to see if you can get special offers for a bike of this calibre, then you will have a tough time doing so. The Mongoose Thrive is the best as far as BMX technology is concerned.
