How to Keep Your Weight Loss From Hitting a Plateau by Fooling Your Metabolism

By Jonas Varig

If you're like many people out there, you might have tried various diets to different degrees of success. You could have lost some fat but you usually get to a certain point and then nothing you do can help you lose more. This plateau is hit by most people and is common amongst the various diet plans. There's a new way of bypassing this plateau by trying to trick your metabolism.

You've probably already experienced the plateau problem which will probably have caused you a whole lot of frustration and ended more than one diet plan. This is a strange thing that takes place to even the most successful dieters sometime near the third or fourth week of the diet they have chosen. Up until that moment, the weight falls off and then it just stops and practically nothing you do can get your body to shed more weight. This is how your body responds to all of the changes you happen to be forcing upon it. Your body slows down your metabolism when you get to this point because it wants to protect you from accidental starvation. This, then, keeps you from being able to get rid of more excess weight.

That is why people stop trying to lose weight because, this plateau keeps them from believing that doing so is achievable. At this time they go back to eating, and gaining their excess weight back plus even more than they lost usually. The way to prevent this is simply by using a diet where you transfer calories. What you want to do is eat a different number of calories daily, which purportedly helps you deceive your metabolism. If this works on your body it will not enter "protective" mode. It will keep your metabolism constant instead of slowing down and you're going to get rid of even more weight. As you get to this point, you have passed the plateau and your diet will continue to work the way that it was expected to.

It is really easy to integrate this type of plan into your day to day life. One of the most widely used caloric cycling methods is the 14 day method. The program will go for 14 days, where you do the regular plan for 11 days, and then 3 days where you try to eat what you want. Switch your food throughout each day to deceive your metabolism and then eat whatever you want to keep yourself from hitting the plateau. This really is very handy in keeping you on track with the more stringent dieting plans. Just keep on repeating the fourteen days until you've reached your weight loss objectives.

The 2 day plan is one other way, where you eat regularly for one day, and the other day you trim your calories by 20% to 35%. You can certainly keep doing this every couple of days for as long as necessary to get your weight off. This is a program that warrants your attention as it could be just what you need to pass your plateau and get rid of all of the weight you wish to lose.
