The benefits of using lockable skips

By Marc Paulrite

If you are looking to hire a skip, you'll find that there are lots of different options to choose from. Skips come in a range of different sizes and are a great way to get rid of general waste easily from your home redevelopment or building site.

A standard skip is left uncovered and waste is simple put in the skip by the developer or builder whenever they want. The skip usually sits near the work being carried out, so that it's easy to dispose of the rubbish and trips to the trade recycling centre to dispose of the waste yourself are a thing of the past.

As well as standard skip hire, some skip hire services also offer other, more bespoke, skip hire services for the disposal of different types of waste. One of these services is a lockable skip. If you use a lockable skip, you can stop unauthorised access to the waste you dispose. You can also stop people putting their waste in your skip and can stop people accessing waste that is confidential.

Scrap metal is currently worth quite a lot of money, so any metal waste that is put in a skip is liable to be removed by unscrupulous people who want to trade it in for cash. If you use a lockable skip however, you can stop this waste being removed and can have the benefit of this money yourself. Some skip hire companies will also reduce the cost of the skip hire if the skip contains valuable material.

Another benefit of using lockable skips is that vermin numbers can be dramatically reduced. Because the skip is able to be locked any, waste which attracts vermin will no longer be able to be accessed.

It's really easy to book a skip. And, some skip hire companies will even arrange the skip hire permit for you if you need to put the skip on the road.
