How To Get Rid Of Acne Quickly

By Terry Henry

When you have acne, it's hard to feel good about your appearance. You feel embarrassed, almost like you are not trying your best. Luckily, there are many ways to work on your acne so that you can feel and look your best. This article contains just a few of the best ways to tackle your acne.

Try to avoid going to bed with makeup on ever again. Sleeping in your makeup clogs pores and doesn't allow the skin to breath, causing acne that could have been easily avoided. It also rubs off onto your sheets and pillows, leaving behind bacteria and oils that you'll more than likely lay back in the next night.

Keep your intake of probiotics and prebiotics high to help balance your gut and keep the acne at bay. Having a deficiency of either of these can cause toxins to be released through your skin, leading to acne. You can take a probiotic supplement and eat foods like artichokes, bananas, honey, and onions to increase your prebiotic colonies and clear up your skin.

If you have an overabundance of acne that has caused swelling around the affected area, be sure to visit your dermatologist. They can provide you with medications that you can purchase over-the-counter. If your case is really severe and these medications do not work, your doctor may give you a cortisone injection to reduce swelling.

Reducing the amount of dairy and red meat in your diet may help reduce your acne symptoms. Both dairy and red meat can be difficult for our bodies to digest. Due to this, we compensate by releasing excess waste products through the skin, as oils, which translate into acne flare-ups. Try cutting back on how much you consume of these items and see if you notice a difference in your skin.

If you travel often or do not have a bathroom in close proximity to where you are, make sure that you bring a hand sanitizer with you to reduce the amount of germs on your hands. This can help eliminate any bacteria transfer from your hands to your face, effectively helping to reduce acne.

If you suffer from unsightly blackheads and large pores, switch from bar soaps to a more gentle, water-soluble liquid cleanser. Many of the fillers used in bar soaps cause skin cells to flake off prematurely; the skin cells then accumulate and clog the pores. Choose a cleanser that does not leave a greasy residue on the skin, as this may make the problem worse.

One way to reduce acne is to actually reduce your caffeine intake. Coffee and tea and other items that are high in caffeine can elevate stress levels, which will in turn cause breakouts. Try to drink decaf if possible. By eliminating the caffeine in your diet, you are more likely to have clearer skin.

As was noted in the beginning of the article, acne can be an emotionally painful condition. You shouldn't hesitate to consult a doctor if your acne truly bother you and affects your social life. By taking the steps outlined in the article, you can first try them to see if there are results. If not, then the doctor can certainly help you to get it under control.
