Is There A Diet That Will Work

By Lorene Johnson

Practically anyone in need of a diet has wondered what diet would be the best. Every diet seems to work for someone, so there must be a reason why they don't work, and it probably is because people quit too soon. There are many reasons why people fail to stick with their diet plan, usually because something doesn't fit. With all of the diets out there, you need to get it down to a couple that you can do, before picking the right one.

Keeping a food journal or diary is a way to make it harder for you to cheat on a diet or abandon it altogether. If you have no intention of staying with a diet, what is the purpose of even beginning it. When you choose the wrong diet, it is too easy to give it up shortly after starting. If you don't give it a chance to work because of straying, that is another problem that happens. If you have patterns of eating, it will be easy to gradually go back to those, if you are not paying close attention. If you write down, whether in a notebook, on a computer or on your smart phone, everything you eat, you will be much more conscious of how many calories you consume each day. This can make it easier to stick to any diet.

If you are looking for a diet that has worked for many people, that diet is known by its calorie shifting. This diet uses a technique known as calorie shifting, and it is more than just a specific diet. What calorie shifting can be described as, is being on a restrictive diet for several days, where you limit your calories, and then you take a diet break and eat what you want for several days. The good thing about this diet is that you have days to look forward to, where you get to eat, instead of always being hungry.

The main reason for calorie shifting, though, is to prevent your metabolism from slowing down, which is what happens when you try to stick to a low-calorie diet all the time. Calorie shifting doesn't allow your body to get used to the reduction in calories, which prevents it from going into starvation mode.

The right diet plan is out there, but to find it, you will need to ignore the hype and look for one with expectations that are realistic. When you see ads that promise that you can lose a large amount of weight in a short time, it's tempting to believe it because everyone would like it to be that easy. However, in the long run buying into this kind of hype is counterproductive, because when you find that these solutions don't work, you end up feeling discouraged. When you gained the bulk of your weight, it didn't happen overnight, so you should not expect it to be reversed overnight either.

If your research shows you the foods that caused your weight gain, then the first part of the solution is to eliminate those foods from your diet. If you will use a lot of common sense, you shouldn't get sucked into most of the diet programs that are seeking your money. The purpose of a nutritionist is to find the right foods for you to be eating, so they should be who you consult when you have questions about a diet plan.
